It has been a very busy and sad couple of weeks and I missed sharing glass with you. Tonight I listed an exquisite, beautiful piece that I just have to rave about – I know you like gorgeous vintage glass too so we can ooh and aah together!
This is the Peacock and Wild Rose vase we bought at an antique mall a couple weeks ago. I have not seen many pieces in this etch – it is moderately rare in all colors – but the pictures looked great. This is another pattern where the photos do not do the etch justice. The peacock is lovely and the flower blossoms and trailing branches are perfect. Beautiful!
I’ve not been buying glass in an effort to downsize my inventory, but could not resist this. The piece is wonderful enough that I would gladly keep it for us. The color is a soft clear pink that Paden City called Cheriglo. The vase itself is sized for big bouquets – think peonies or roses or lilacs – with a wide mouth.
Paden City made several patterns with peacocks and I found some fascinating tid bits to share with you, but they will wait for a future post. Until then, let’s admire this pink depression vase and Mr. Peacock!
