It’s the lovely month of May and Friday, time to smile and be happy. It’s easy to smile when you see big puffy old fashioned roses all on a trellis and all with that wonderful old rose fragrance. That’s what this pink glass pattern reminds me of: roses. Lots and lots of roses.
The glass company called this design Sharon but it’s Cabbage Rose to many and Rose of Sharon to some. Pretty serving bowl is depression glass with the rose bouquets in panels and an arc of roses and leaves circling the base. You feel surrounded by flowers with this exuberant glass.
Sharon pink depression glass wasn’t one of those patterns where it was instant love for me. In fact I wasn’t sure I liked it at first but those bountiful roses won me over. I enjoy the asymmetric flower spray on the bottom and the color and the variety of pieces and the friendly happy way it feels.
