It’s Friday and time for Pink Saturday. Here that means showing off a piece of pink depression glass. This week let’s see a big serving bowl in Sharon Cabbage Rose.
The lady I bought this from called it Rose of Sharon and you may see this enticing pattern listed that way online. Can you see the big poofy old fashioned roses? This pattern reminds me of the fairy story Sleeping Beauty with the rose hedge around the sleeping princess.
Sharon is one of the most popular depression glass patterns, especially in the lovely clear pink. Federal Glass did not make as many pink patterns as did other glass makers during the depression. It’s too bad because Federal pink glass is a pretty color, a soft candy pink.
If you want to incorporate a few pieces of depression glass in your home, without feeling like you need to get an entire set, then serving pieces are perfect. Serving bowls are good choices for gifts and they look good mixed with other types of glass or china.
Sharon Cabbage Rose big bowl is a perfect choice for a touch of vintage charm.
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event. Please be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how pink we can be.
