Fostoria, like many elegant glass companies, solved this problem by making special trays for creamer and sugar sets. These were particularly popular with the smaller sized pieces, those marked as “individual” or “hotel size”.

Trays have an inset center that holds the creamer and sugar and keeps them from sliding off. (You can imagine how easy it would be to dump a creamer full of milk in your lap when you’re sleepy.) The tray has a rim that’s easy to hold and makes it really easy to pass.
It’s a good idea, so practical and yet so elegant!
