Last post we compared Cambridge Chantilly and Elaine etches, two patterns that can be confusing. (You can read that post here: Those Look Alike Cambridge Patterns Elaine and Chantilly.) Cambridge’s Roselyn etch is even easier to mix up with Elaine!
Here are two bowls, one with Elaine and one with Roselyn. This is tricky because it’s the same piece, a 12 inch flared, ruffled bowl with 4 feet, so your eye doesn’t have anything except the pattern details to go by. And to make it even trickier, I didn’t label the photos and used a different view of the Elaine piece.

Clues:
Remember, Elaine has a big scroll that runs diagonally. The flower sprays run diagonally too. Hmm. Getting close!
Roselyn has no scrolls and the flowers are a little more all-over. Now we’re there!
The Answer:
Bowl #1 is Elaine. It’s a little tricky because the scroll is on the sides and you can only see the ends in this photo. Here’s a better view of the scrolls in the corners of this bowl.
And now Roselyn.
Are there other patterns that you mix up sometimes? Drop me a comment and let me know what they are.
