Last post I mentioned my burning desire for a pretty candy jar, ideally green or amber (although I’d not turn my nose up at other colors!), and with a nice design and shape. Depression era glass companies included candy jars in their patterns that had long production runs. The long production run meant the pattern was popular so the companies liked to add more pieces to keep people interested – and buying.
I want a jar with a lid. The lids keep candy fresher and in our family, also keep the cats out. (They think candy is fun to fish out and bat around. Yuck.)
This pretty Cameo green covered low jar is perfect. I don’t have it any more; it sold immediately.
I’m not crazy about pink but this Doric one is attractive. Jeannette always used extra details when they made their patterns, take a look at the finial to see the Doric motif repeated on the facets. It is sold too.
This Cube is sparkly but not my favorite either. Also sold.
This next one is magnificent, from several years ago, Pheasant on a Stump from Heisey, with the pattern picked out in gold on a blue enamel background . It was even prettier in person and the buyer loved it.
I could settle for a pretty etched dish like this but I think we’ll hold out for a jar with a lid.
Ever since I walked away from the Floral green one at the antique mall I’ve been thinking it would be perfect. Next time!!
