Beverly is having us do green this week for Pink Saturday. That’s a change I like – green glass is pretty!
This piece is Cherry Blossom green depression glass sherbet and it’s the real depression era glass, not a later reproduction. Cherry Blossom is one of the prettiest patterns that unfortunately attracted some real scam artists. Luckily only a minority of the pieces have been reproduced and the green sherbet has not been.
Jeannette made many variations of Cherry Blossom. Some pieces have scalloped feet, some are round, so a good book is a must if you decide to collect Cherry Blossom. I’ve found that many of the fakes just look wrong – but if you have little experience with a pattern your glass sense may not spot the better fakes. That’s where a book can help, get you enough experience that your glass sense can develop and you can be more confident collecting.
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event. Please be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how pink we can be.
