Paden City Crow’s Foot – Elegant or Depression Glass?
Paden City made Crow’s Foot in the 1930s in red, cobalt blue, some amber, crystal, black, white, pink and yellow. They used this as a blank for several of their etched designs and produced a very large number of pieces, including a full dinnerware set and several accessory and decorative pieces such as center handled servers or candy jars but no stemware or tumblers.
We saw little plain Crow’s Foot in the time we bought glass; in fact we saw very few pieces of Paden City altogether. We lived in mid-Michigan and perhaps it was not well distributed there.
Crow’s Foot dinnerware includes the usual plates, bowls, cup and saucers for place setting use plus many serving pieces. The footed oval bowl shown at the top of the page is a gravy boat; it took me quite a while to figure out exactly which piece this is since it doesn’t look like most gravy boats! Paden City made two styles of cups and both a round and a square saucer and in fact they several of the plates and serving pieces in both square and round shapes.
The accessory pieces are splendid looking in either the red or dark blue and several have either round or square shapes. You can find candle holders, cake stands, vases, candy dishes, comports, center handled servers and many bowls. Several accessory pieces come in either round or square shapes making this a fun pattern!
