It’s time for an Easter theme for Fancy Friday. How about a crystal basket for flowers or your decorated eggs?
This vintage low basket is Heisey Lariat with big loops of pure crystal around the rim, a smooth arc handle and a molded base. Heisey made many neat pieces in Lariat, including dinnerware. This basket would have been a gift item, possibly for a wedding or Mothers’ Day. You can imagine it with greenery for Christmas; it is a versatile piece.
Lariat was Heisey’s answer to Imperial Glass super popular Candlewick. Unfortunately Lariat and its contemporary patterns like Orchid were not strong enough to keep Heisey afloat past the mid 1950s. Heisey, one of the premier glass houses through the 1940s, went out of business in 1956.
