My family room and glass room are a mess now with all the Cameo and Doric & Pansy depression glass stacked (more or less organized) all over. Here’s a shot of one stack, mostly Cameo. There are a couple boxes and another set in the glass room to be photographed.
I bought these large sets last week at an estate sale. Mind you, I keep an eye on local estate sales and this is the first one that’s shown enough glass to make it worth a drive since we moved here last fall.
Over the years I’ve gotten glass at auctions, estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, individuals and eBay. eBay is great when I want specific pieces. Auctions take a lot of time and haven’t been real productive. Estate sales, thrift stores and flea markets are hit or miss.
Once I have the glass and have oohed and aaahh-ed, it’s time to wash, sort, catalog, photograph, wrap, box and list. (Remember this is glass I’m selling. Glass for us gets admired, washed and put out!) Right now I’m in the throes of cataloging and photographing. It takes a lot of time to carefully check each piece, and that’s one reason I’ve gotten fussier about where I shop.
Where do you find depression or elegant glass?
