I was going to write about the go with patterns for Fostoria Fairfax but the more I wrote the more I realized that these aren’t really go with for Fairfax itself, but were used for the same etchings as Fairfax. Fairfax is one pattern that was so extensive that we really don’t lack must-have pieces. There is no liner tray for the creamer and sugar, and Fostoria used the Line 2429 tray which came in the same colors but is more angular and has tab handles.
Other than that, we have many pieces where Fostoria added style and pizzazz to etched lines by melding in other blanks to Fairfax Line 2375.
Line 2394
This is a lovely design, with three feet that curve up into flared Vs on the side and a wide, scalloped rim. Line 2394 is strictly an accessory blank with a large bowl, small mint bowl and candle holders. I don’t think there were any dinnerware pieces or stemware. Here we see the large flared bowl with the Versailles etch.
Line 2395
Pure Art Deco looking 2395 is another accessory set with spectacular pieces like this curved handle bowl and the candle holders below.
Fostoria made two sizes of the candle holders. The smaller one lacks the long stem we see here and has the scrolls curled tight between the candle cup and the base.
There were a couple other pieces that Fostoria borrowed for Fairfax, the whipped cream pail and the tall footed pitcher, but I have no pictures of these.
Line 2470
The other pattern that we may think of as a go with for Fairfax itself is Line 2470. It too is an accessory-only pattern, with no dinnerware or stemware. Fostoria made this graceful, elegant shape in green, pink, topaz, amber, crystal, wisteria, blue and even ruby and burgundy, much the same colors as with Fairfax. I have only one piece to show, the amber sweetmeat.
This concludes our blog post series on Fostoria Fairfax. If you have requests or ideas for future posts please leave me a comment here on on our Facebook page. Thanks for reading!
