Fostoria didn’t make much opalescent glassware. This bowl shows one of the very few patterns that were opalescent; it is Heirloom dating to the 1960s. Heirloom is high quality glassware with the typical finishing details we expect from Fostoria, ground base rim, polished seams, consistent pattern and gorgeous clear crystal around the outer rim.
Fostoria made Heirloom in all the colors popular in the go-go 60s, persimmon orange, sunny yellow, pink, a green and this classic white. We have several pieces of the white 25% off in our store Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass.
You can see this handkerchief bowl was pulled by hand making each one slightly different. Besides this bowl you can find candleholders, an epergne, vases, a pretty leaf shaped bon bon and a couple other bowl shapes and sizes. Heirloom was giftware, a decorative line and there is no dinnerware or stemware.
Besides Heirloom, the only Fostoria opalescent pattern I know of is Seascape which used the Contour shapes and was made in the 1950s so a little earlier than Heirloom. Please leave a comment about any other opalescent Fostoria glass. Our readers and I like to learn about vintage glass.
