Fostoria Glass produced hundreds of glass patterns in multiple colors and myriads of shapes and pieces. Use this guide to identify the glass you have or browse to find your favorites.
Fostoria American
Fostoria Glass made American continuously from its introduction in 1915 until 1982. That long production resulted in well over 100 different pieces, mostly in crystal but a few colors too.
The nappy shown is one of several nappies – quare, triangular, round and round with flared rim – you can choose among.
Indiana Glass made some pieces after buying the Fostoria molds. There are several books that describe the different reproduced pieces.
Fostoria Glass American Flared Rim Nappy
Fostoria Argus
Fostoria Glass made Argus from 1963 until 1982, during a period when Colonial styling was popular. Argus was a reproduction of an early American pressed glass pattern commissioned by the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Most pieces are marked HFM. Fostoria used wonderful colors for Argus, deep blue, rich ruby red, this olive toned green, charcoal gray and clear. The style is a little heavy for my taste but if you enjoy Colonial and rich colors Argus may be a good choice for you.

Fostoria Baroque
Fostoria Glass made Baroque continuously from 1937 until 1958, mostly in crystal but also topaz gold and light blue. Fostoria used Baroque for several splendid etchings including Navarre, Meadow Rose, Chintz, Lido. The pattern was popular as a plain blank and the unetched glass looks great by itself or mixed with decorated pieces.
Most Baroque has molded fleur de lis. Candle holders and compotes have nice grooved upswept shapes that look like wings with grooves. Look for more Baroque under the etched patterns in this guide and in our store.
This vase is particularly nice and would make a great gift. It’s unusual. We’re always glad to help you find just the perfect gift for someone special.

Fostoria Beverly
Beverly is one of Fostoria etched designs from the era of color, the depression. Fostoria started Beverly in 1927 and continued it until 1933 in crystal, amber and this luscious green. Fostoria used the plain Pioneer blank for the plates and accessories. Beverly is etched on the #5097 stemware which has a twisted crystal stem.
Beverly is a quiet pattern, restrained and classic, yet appealing and quite pretty. It’s a personal favorite.

Fostoria Bouquet Etched Crystal
Fostoria Glass put the Bouquet etch on crystal Century pieces from 1949 to 1972. That long production means there are many pieces to choose among.
You can enjoy Bouquet whether a few pieces of stemware, creamer and sugar or a lunch set. Fostoria made a full dinnerware line with many accessory pieces like candle holders, bowls, pitchers. This little creamer is perfect for a couple.
Fostoria Glass Bouquet Etched Crystal Century Creamer
Fostoria Buttercup Etched Crystal
Fostoria Glass used their Sonata blank for Buttercup etch. They made crystal only from 1942 to 1959.
Fostoria Buttercup is one of their most beautiful etches, all full of flowers. If you intend to use your glass plates for lunch or dinner then Buttercup is a good choice. The centers are fully etched which makes any wear less noticeable.

Fostoria Cabot Crystal
Fostoria Cabot gets its looks from the dot optic. The design makes the glass look shimmery – very pretty!
Fostoria Celini Crystal Vintage Stemware

Fostoria Century Fostoria used Century for many of their etched design and sold it unadorned as a special pattern. It works great alone or with your etched patterns.
Here’s a tip to make your china dinnerware shine and really stand out on your table. Put a clear crystal plate under your china dishes.

Fostoria Glass Chintz Etched Crystal
Fostoria Glass made Chintz from 1940 until 1973. That long production resulted many pieces, all in crystal, including dinnerware, stemware and accessory pieces.
You can spot Chintz easily because the etch looks spiky. The roses are realistic with thorns on the branches and pointed leaves. Fostoria used Baroque for almost all the pieces. The pretty fleur de lis looks great with the flowers.
The plates have etched centers, which makes them good to use. The pattern helps to hide the wear.

Fostoria Glass Coin
Fostoria Glass made Coin in several colors. A few pieces have been remade but the candle holders in ruby have not been reissued.

Fostoria Glass Contour
Fostoria Glass made Contour mostly in crystal. Contour pieces in pink or blue opalescent glass are part of the Seascape line. Think curves when you think Contour. You can see the curvy sherbet stem. Plates and bowls are cupped.
Fostoria Glass Contour Crystal Sherbet
Fostoria Glass Coronet
Fostoria Glass used Coronet as a blank for Cynthia cutting and the Willowmere etch and sold it by itself. Coronet stems and handles look like rams horns and all pieces have three curvy lines near the rim.
Fostoria Coronet is a beautiful pattern, sadly it’s not as well known as some.
Fostoria Glass Coronet Crystal Creamer
Fostoria Glass Corsage Etched Crystal
Fostoria Glass made Corsage from 1935 to 1959 in crystal. Corsage etch has a flower bouquet set inside a cone shaped holder that looks like an ice cream cone. Ribbons and streamers tie around the bouquet and trail down the piece.
Fostoria Glass Corsage Etched Crystal Goblet
Fostoria Glass Colonial Prism
Fostoria Glass made Colonial Prism first from 1925 to 1935 then reused the molds for milk glass and other colors in the 1950s. Colonial Prism looks like art glass with the lace edge, very attractive especially in rich colors like the amber shown.

Fostoria Glass Cynthia Cut Crystal
Fostoria Glass used the name Cynthia for two patterns. The one shown here is a simple spray cutting made from 1938 to 1965 in crystal. Cynthia stemware is the stately Sceptre blank and plates and accessories are on Coronet.

Fostoria Glass Fairfax
Fostoria Glass used their Fairfax blank for many etches including June and Versailles. Fostoria sold the plain blank itself also and it is lovely. You can mix the plain Fairfax glass with the etched patterns to make a pretty table setting without spending a fortune on a full set of etched June or Versailles.
Fostoria made Fairfax from 1927 to 1941 in crystal, pink, blue, amber, topaz and green with a few pieces in amethyst and other colors of the depression era.

Fostoria Glass Florentine Etch
Fostoria Glass made their lovely Florentine etched glassware mostly in crystal from 1933 to 1943. Fostoria Florentine has tall baskets or urns overflowing with flowers. Most glass companies made patterns that featured baskets or urns.

Fostoria Glass Garland Etch
Fostoria Glass made two patterns with the name Garland, this one with the big circular wreath and swags, and another etch that is quite different.
Fostoria Glass Garland Etched Wine Goblet Stemware
Fostoria Glass Grape Brocade Etch
Fostoria Grape is one of the brocade etches. These were especially labor-intensive and Fostoria made none after the depression era. The brocade etched designs have the background deeply etched with the design in the foreground and smooth. They feel wonderful to the touch, similar to satin glass.
The candle holder shown is Fostoria Orchid colored glass, a light pinky lilac color. Fostoria did not make a lot of pieces in this color.

Fostoria Glass Heather Etch
Fostoria put the Heather etch on Century, as in the relish dish shown. Stemware used the Silver Flutes blank with little curled nubs along the stem. Fostoria made Heather in crystal only from 1949 to 1971.

Fostoria Heirloom Opalescent Glass
Fostoria made Heirloom in opalescent colors during the 1960s.
Fostoria Glass Heirloom Opalescent Handkerchief Bowl
Fostoria Holly Cut Crystal
Fostoria Holly cutting is a simple line of leaves. What gives the pattern its looks is the leaves alternate between gray cut and polished cuttings. (Gray cut is the cut as is; it looks grayish. When the cutting is polished it looks clear.) Fostoria put Holly on the curvy modernistic Sonata blank.
This candle holder would be perfect for Christmas without being overwhelmingly Christmasy.
Fostoria Holly Cut Crystal Duo Sonata Candle Holder
Fostoria Italian Lace or Gold Lace
Fostoria made Italian Lace in accessory pieces only. They apparently marketed it as gift ware. The etch has big white flowers and most pieces have gold trim on the rims. Fostoria changed the name to Gold Lace about 1942.
Italian Lace or Gold Lace is very pretty but do be careful to check the gold trim for wear.
Fostoria Glass Italian Lace Etched Crystal Salad Bowl
Fostoria Jamestown
Fostoria made Jamestown in colors and crystal, mostly stemware with a few accessory pieces. It is heavier molded glass with colonial styling to suit the 1960s.

Fostoria June Etched Blue, Topaz, Pink and Crystal
Fostoria made June etched glass in topaz yellow, azure blue, pink and crystal. This is a premier Fostoria pattern that was popular when it was made during the early 1930s and still today.
Fostoria put June on the Fairfax blank which has a subtle optic rim and angular shapes. The combination looks great. You can tell June apart from the other Fostoria patterns (Romance) with ribbons and bows because June has two ribbons, one that makes a U shape and one that’s tied into bows. The other patterns lack this second ribbon and are on different shapes.
Actually the easiest way to tell June from Romance is that Romance is only crystal while June is pink, topaz, blue and crystal. The shapes are very different too. Believe me, you won’t have trouble telling them apart after you see the patterns. Take a close look at the pictures and you’ll see what I mean.
I wanted to show you all the colors – stunning!

Fostoria Lafayette
Fostoria used Lafayette for several cuttings and etched patterns. The undecorated pieces are pretty with the bow tie shaped handles and gentle scallops. Fostoria made Lafayette in the 1930s in their full rainbow of colors.
At first I found it hard to tell Lafayette from Fairfax, and they are similar. Remember Lafayette is more curvy. Plates are curved and handled pieces have the fancy little handles shown on the divided mayo.
Fostoria Glass Lafayette Topaz Yellow 2-Handled Relish
Fostoria Laurel Cutting
Fostoria Laurel is a cut pattern. You can tell it from other glass companies’ similar patterns by the two narrow cut lines and the shapes. It’s refined and elegant, but a little boring compared to the lovely swooping etches and flower patterns.
Fostoria Glass Laurel Cut Cordial
Fostoria Lido Etched Elegant Glass
Fostoria Lido etched glass looks like fireworks or milkweed puffs. The stemware is on the Sceptre blank and the plates and accessories use Baroque. Fostoria made Lido etched crystal from 1937 to 1954 and a small line of azure blue from 1937 to 1943.
I can never make up my mind which pattern is my favorite, but Lido is always right up there. It makes me happy every time I see it.
Fostoria Lido Etched Crystal 2-Handled Cake Plate
Fostoria Line 2470 Elegant Glass
Fostoria Line 2470 elegant glass is a small pattern that goes well with Lafayette. Fostoria made it from 1933 to 1940.
You can always spot this design as it has the interesting tab handles with little curlicues. Fostoria marketed it with Fairfax and Lafayette and it blends well with either.

Fostoria Line 5093 Elegant Glass Stemware

Fostoria Mayfair Elegant Glass
Fostoria Mayfair is elegant glass with an art deco inspired square shape. Fostoria used Mayfair for the New Garland etch and sold it by itself in a rainbow of colors including this ebony black. Mayfair is a 1930s pattern.
The white spots are dust that simply would not stay off my plate during photo sessions! Really, my house is not dusty.
Fostoria Mayfair Ebony Black Elegant Glass Plate
Fostoria Meadow Rose Etched Elegant Glass
Fostoria put Meadow Rose etch on the same shapes and pieces as the similar Navarre etch. Fostoria use Baroque for plates and accessories like this stemmed compote.
Personally I like Meadow Rose better than Navarre, guess it’s because the pretty swags and flowers show up so well.
Fostoria Meadow Rose Etched Crystal Baroque Compote
Fostoria Melissa Crystal Vase
Fostoria Melissa vase was one of their giftware items in the early 1980s. This has special meaning for me because I own one myself that came directly from the plant after a tour in the mid 1980s.
Fostoria Glass Melissa Crystal Vase
Fostoria Melrose Etched Glass
Fostoria Melrose was one of their early etched patterns. It is similar to Beverly with a trellis design between a small motif. On Melrose the motif is a small bouquet of flowers while Beverly is a small garland.
Fostoria Glass Melrose Etched Crystal Dessert Plate
Fostoria Navarre Etched Elegant Glass
Fostoria Navarre is one of the most successful etched patterns. It is similar to Meadow Rose except has a dangling bouquet where Meadow Rose is plain. Fostoria made Navarre in crystal for a long time, from 1936 to 1982, and in pink and light blue in the 1970s. Most Navarre is on the Baroque blank although a few pieces, like the bowl shown is on Flame.

Fostoria Raleigh Crystal
Fostoria Raleigh is a heavy, colonial styled pattern that Fostoria sold plain and used for etches. Fostoria made Raleigh from 1940 to 1966. This was a time that styles and preferences were changing and colonial styles were much in vogue.

Fostoria Rambler Etched Mayfair Relish
Fostoria Romance Etched Crystal
Fostoria put their romantic Romance etch on Sonata blank in crystal from 1942 to 1971.
To tell Romance from June check the number of ribbons. Romance has a single ribbon with bows and June has two ribbons.

Fostoria Royal Etched Glass
Fostoria Royal is a simple etched band around the rim on blue, green, amber and crystal.

Fostoria Sonata
Fostoria used Sonata crystal as a blank for etched patterns like Romance and sold it separately in crystal. The handles on Sonana pieces look like this plumed center on the tray – very, very nice.

Fostoria Sprite
Fostoria put Sprite cutting on Sonata from 1940 to 1986.
Fostoria Sprite Cut Crystal Serving Plate
Fostoria Sun Ray
Fostoria Sun Ray is a pressed pattern made in crystal with a few pieces in amber, red, blue and green, from 1935 to 1943. The mother of one of my friends had an enormous set with multiple candle holders, vases, service for 12. Stunning!
Fostoria Glass Sun Ray Crystal 1-Handle Triangular Nappy
Fostoria Trellis
Fostoria made two cut crystal patterns called Treillis and the one shown is the older, cutting 660 made from 1924 to 1928. I bought a few pieces many years ago; it is surprisingly hard to find now. If you like this then you’ll want to consider buying Trellis when you see it.

Fostoria Trojan Etched Glass
Fostoria Trojan is one of my favorite patterns, simple and lovely in Fostoria topaz yellow glass. Fostoria used Fairfax blank for most dinnerware and accessories and the spectacular Waterfall blank for stemware. Fostoria made Trojan in pink and topaz from 1929 to 1936.

Fostoria made two patterns called Virginia and this is the older, a pretty etched design. Virginia etch is similar to Beverly or Melrose with etched lattice between small motifs. Fostoria made Virginia in crystal only from 1923 to 1929.
Fostoria Glass Virginia Etched Crystal Sugar
Fostoria Woodland Etch
Fostoria Woodland is distinctive with the conical flower center. Fostoria made Woodland in crystal only from 1922 to 1928. Fostoria made a later Woodland pattern that is heavier pressed glass.
We had a set of plates that would be wonderful to use in the evening for dessert. The great thing about dessert plates is they don’t need to match anything else. It’s fun to use different patterns or styles for dessert than for the regular meal, so if you use china dishes for dinner then try glass for dessert.

Fostoria Willowmere Etch
Fostoria put Willowmere etch on their distinctive Coronet blanks from 1938 to 1970.
