Recognize this pretty etch? It is Meadow Rose from Fostoria, one of the top choices for brides in the 1950s. You may have a few pieces from your family.
This pretty comport is a great way to add vintage charm to your home and it’s small enough – about 4 1/2 inches tall – to fit easily in your living room, dining room, or use to hold scented soaps in the guest bath.
I like comports. They are highly decorative and a great way to show off the etch. I showed a few center handled servers last week that are like glass canvases; comports are similar but smaller and a little friendlier since they can be as unobtrusive on a shelf or table as you need.
This one has the Meadow Rose etch which is all curlicues and swags and the glass stem itself is more curlicues. The rim is scalloped. It might sound delicate or ornate but it isn’t; the design complements the shape just perfectly.
I showed other Meadow Rose pieces in earlier posts, the salad (ok, let’s be honest here, the dessert) plate and the footed tumbler. All the pieces are stunning together but you can mix and match them with china or other glass and set a beautiful table.

Post about Meadow Rose footed tumbler. This has a large size photo so you can see the design.
