Fostoria Glass’s lovely Oriental etch features peacocks, leaves and branches. Some of the peacocks fly away and some perch and all have lavish tails and wings. You can easily remember Oriental because it’s the only etched pattern Fostoria made with birds.
Fostoria made Oriental etch from 1918 to 1928 when they were beginning to offer wider piece assortments in popular patterns. Oriental is a stemware and accessory/serving pattern, with a full complement stems, plus tumblers, luncheon and salad or dessert plates, mayonnaise, cruets, small pitchers. I do not believe they made cups and saucers, creamer and sugar or other place setting pieces beyond the small plates.
The plate is a very simple, plain shape, and the stemware is likewise simple, line #766.
We only saw Oriental at one large antique mall where we got the plate but it is available online. You can see stemware on both eBay and Replacements as of November 2023.
Be aware that Fostoria made a very different etch, Orient, about the same time. No birds fly on Orient! The etch features swags and wreaths and looks formal. The goblet below is Orient. See how different it is from Oriental.
