It’s Saturday again and this will be a busy one for me. How about you? Lots planned this Memorial Day weekend?
Our glass pick is a cup from Indiana Glass in the Lorain pattern. Be sure to check out the basket design – it is lovely.
Indiana made Lorain in green and yellow. Both are pretty colors and look wonderful with the basket and swag design. According to Gene Florence in his Collector’s Encyclopedia of Depression Glass, yellow is the choice color. Personally I prefer the green. I like yellow glass and Indiana used a soft, pretty color for Lorain, but that green is exquisite.
Here is a table set with Lorain green glass. Isn’t this pretty?
Here’s another photo to show the full table. I took this with a too-small picture size but hopefully you can see how pretty the shapes are.
That table is shown in this blog post: A Tisket A Tasket Green Baskets and Flowers – Lorain Depression Glass and here: Green Lorain Depression Glass Repeat – Tablescape Thursday. (If you read this and wonder, yes, we are moved in. In fact one of my weekend goals is to reorganize cupboards since stuff got rearranged in the 18 months we’ve lived here.)
I like Lorain a lot but we don’t see it much. It’s one of those patterns that is a gem for the discerning, not one that everybody has. Although Indiana re-made many of their glass patterns from the 1930s, they never re-made Lorain. It’s safe to buy and cherish!
