Glass shows don’t limit themselves to depression ware, the traditional Adam to Windsor patterns. We saw almost as much elegant glass – gorgeous work from Cambridge, Fostoria, Heisey and more – and quite a bit of glass that doesn’t fit neatly into either category.
Several dealers had nifty pieces from Viking. When you see rich colors and curvy shapes, Mid-Century Modern styling, the glass may be Viking.
Here is the Epic #1322 cat in ruby glass. I’ve had a few of these in other colors and they are as cute as they look in the photo.
This candle block is typical of Viking ware with its rich orange color and unique style.
I’m not sure who made this owl but he sure looks wise!
The 2017 Dearborn show had quite a bit of kitchenware, including Pyrex. Corning celebrated 100 years of Pyrex in 2015 and the 2015 show had several comprehensive displays. This year we saw quite a bit too.
Some Swanky Swigs date to the 1930s but most are later. I enjoy these very much. It used to be we saw these little, decorated tumblers everywhere but the last few years I’ve not noticed them in malls or shows as much as before.
Regardless what type of glass you like best, go to a show when there is one nearby. You will have fun!
