I have to remind myself that I’m in business to sell glass, not hang on to it forever. It’s hard sometimes! Today I listed the very first Fostoria console bowl we ever bought. When I first discovered vintage glass I fell for console bowls – hard – and have never stopped liking them.
Way back when we first started buying glass I didn’t know anything about it. Talk about learning in the school of hard reality! I quickly learned enough to recognize some major patterns and when we saw this bowl at an estate auction hiding in a box of miscellaneous bowls, we bid and won! That estate auction was outdoors in Michigan in December when it was darn cold.
I never listed this. It has been stashed away in a box and I’d get it out and look at it, or photograph it, but never could quite bring myself to sell it.
It is time now. I love this pattern, love the style and shape, but it is time for someone else to enjoy this. After all, it has been in my box, not on my shelf or table.
I guess that’s the real test. Do I love something so much that I have to keep it? Must use it, display it, take it out and hold it and marvel at the beauty? I do this with my Rose Point (please, no comments about being a little weird) but not with Lido.
So yes, it’s time to say good-bye to my friend. My bowl is offered for sale for $32.99 including shipping and is fully guaranteed, just like all of our glass.
