Imperial Glass made Beaded Block depression glass in all the usual colors: pink, green, crystal, yellow, blue, red, amber even some iridescent and opalescent colors. There are actually two patterns, Beaded Block which has smooth squares surrounded by a lattice of beads, and Frosted Block, where the squares are stippled. Both are somewhat hard to find.
Imperial re-issued Beaded Block in the 1950s in pink, and iridescent pink, and apparently released the cute pineapple-shaped candy dish in milk glass and other colors then too. The 1950s pieces are marked with IG. (All information here from Gene Florence Collector’s Encyclopedia of Depression Glass.)
Read an earlier post about Beaded Block here.
The Frosted Block (be careful not to confuse with frosted Block Optic from Hocking), is particularly attractive with the lighter glass colors. One reader, Mike A, kindly sent me photos of his Frosted Block crystal sugar bowl. He treasures this attractive piece!
