Here’s a pattern everyone recognizes, Iris and Herringbone from Jeannette Glass.
When we think of “depression glass” we think of colors – green, pink, yellow, blue, amber – but Jeannette bucked the trend with Iris. Iris is one of the very few depression glass patterns that was made mostly in crystal, not colored glass. Jeannette made the clear beginning in 1928 through 1932, and came out with the iridescent in 1959 and again in 1969. Plus they produced a few pieces of opaque white glass, some with applied colors in the 1970s. They made just a few pieces of transparent pink or green.
One thing that makes Iris fun to collect are the bowls. The small berry bowl shown is ruffled, as are most of the large bowls, but a few have beaded rims or flat rims or even flat notched rims. That variety makes this a fun pattern!
