We’re continuing our tour through several patterns of Lancaster depression glass with two green pieces, a Lana two handled serving plate and a Debbra bowl. Lana is soft green with a satin finish and Debbra is a rich, lovely green.
This Lana plate is from several years ago before I learned to photograph glass. It’s harder to see the color and soft finish in this photo but you can see the textured rim and cane center.
A lady on Facebook asked me about a piece she had like Lana but without the textured rim. I was puzzled at first because my mind said, “ah yes, Lana, the one with the wrinkles”, but I couldn’t find it listed in any of my books! Gene Florence calls this pattern Sunshine. As for the lady’s question, Lancaster made cane centered glass without further design.
From what I can tell, Lancaster made only one piece in their Debbra pattern, this two handled medium sized bowl. It’s a very pretty design and stunning in green. We have it listed on Etsy.
Take a good look at the two handles. Notice how Lana handles have a little knot in the center while Debbra’s are ribbed and without the knot. The knot is a very good way to identify Lancaster glass as it’s unique.
We still have a few pieces of Lancaster and maybe Lancaster to look at. I was pleasantly surprised to see just how much Lancaster glass passed through our store in the past 15 years, more than I thought we had had. I buy it when possible but it’s often a little pricey to purchase and resell and I don’t see that much of it. My advice is that if you like it, buy it now while you can. It’s beautiful and you won’t regret it.
