Gene Florence calls this pattern “Olive” and Replacements calls it “Old English” and I found listings under both names on eBay. For this post let’s call it Olive since Indiana made a neat depression glass pattern called “Old English”. (Plus I greatly respect Gene Florence!)
All the pieces have the oval thumbprint design, where the ovals run horizontally, and footed pieces have ribs on the flared out foot. It’s quite distinctive and comes in beautiful colors, mostly this light blue, red, some clear and green.
There isn’t a lot of information on Olive. Bowls like the one shown are easy to find (if you go online) as are other accessory pieces. I didn’t see any dinnerware or luncheon set pieces and suspect this is another pattern that Imperial marketed mainly as accessories.
If you enjoy this neat Deco-inspired design and the lovely colors it’s a good choice for a vintage piece. This footed bowl is large enough to use for fruit on the cupboard or even to serve a salad. The blue is soft and mixes well with china or other glass.
Federal Glass made a vaguely similar pattern, Yorktown, much later, but only in the typical 1970s colors of clear, gold amber, smoke and green. The thumbprints in Yorktown are more square and they are stacked. Yorktown pieces look less elegant to my eye, heavier and more like bar ware or family drink ware.
This is a Yorktown bowl so you can see the difference.
