Norm W, a fellow glass lover sent me this photo to ask for more information as the reference books do not mention this shape for Jeannette’s Floragold glass. The pattern looks like Floragold, although the flowers and leaves are a little more rounded, but the scalloped rim and little curled feet look like the oval ice cream bowl in Floragold. I thought that was what it was.
Meanwhile Norm W found that this is in fact Louisa. Louisa is an older pattern, true carnival glass, and you’ll read in most books that Jeannette’s Floragold is sometimes called Louisa due to the resemblance. Looking at this photo you can see why!
Norm’s comment: What I have found out so far is this – the Floragold pattern that was produced did not include this piece. It was produced by Westmoreland and is an earlier carnival piece referred to as “Louisa”. I was told that this was the nut bowl. However, it is not identfied in the Carnival Glass encyclopedia in Marigold.
If you have more information about this nut bowl, please post here for Norm.
