If you are over 40 you probably have some of this glass; at one time it was ubiquitous in any store that sold housewares. Relish trays, cake plates, platters, candle holders, serving bowls, any of these staples of home kitchens everywhere came in this pattern.
It is 1000 Lines, also called Stars and Bars, from Anchor Hocking. They made it in clear until 1965, although I think they continued making the bud vases even later. They made the bud vases in milk glass and you might see pieces in clear frosted glass.
When we first started buying glass at auctions, sales and antique malls we saw 1000 Lines all the time. The serving bowls, large plates, vases and small candle holders were everywhere.
1000 Lines is heavy, clear pressed glass that looks rather nice on your table. The pieces are sturdy and the sizes and shapes are useful.
We rarely saw the serving forks and spoons or luncheon plates or the divided round bowl/relish holder. The last few years I don’t think we’ve seen many pieces at all. Of course you can find the small bud vases at thrift stores and estate sales because florists used these for years.
You can find basic and less common pieces on eBay. I saw the 1-handle nappy, luncheon plates, large wide-mouth vase, candy dish with lid. Most are modestly priced, although be aware that this heavy pattern is pricey to ship.
If you like this design it is worth looking for if you want a few pieces of useful vintage glass. Think of salad bowl, serving plate, relish tray, all pieces that you are likely to need and use.
