Book Report Monday! A Good Book on Paden City Glass
I use Carie Domitz’ book on Paden City glass, Encyclopedia of Paden City Glass: Identification and Values as it has covered my needs very well. It’s easy to use and covers all/most of the Paden patterns.
The only quibble is the photos look a little amateurish – clear enough for identification purposes but not perfectly lit, so on. It’s tricky to photograph colored glass! The author includes a huge range of pieces and patterns.
She is also gracious and helpful. I had a plate stuck in my “who am I” box for years that one day I thought might be Paden City Aster. I sent a picture to Mrs. Domitz who confirmed the identification.
This book is well worth getting. An lot of Paden’s less well-known glass (i.e., not Cupid or the Peacock patterns) shows up in antique malls or flea markets and if you have a reasonable guidebook it’s fun to try this glass.
