This was supposed to be Meadow Rose turn in the Tablescape Thursday sun but I’m not happy with my table setting photos. We can admire my pretty dessert plate today.
Meadow Rose is a joyful pattern – even the name makes you think of soft sunshine on peaceful lawn. Can you see the garland design? It is graceful curlicues and scrolls with fluffy flowers all encircling an open space of crystal. Meadow Rose has a lot of looks but it isn’t one of those patterns that hits you over the head with its style. It quietly waits until you fall for it.
The plate is 7 1/2 inches wide, which Fostoria called their 7 inch lunch plate. You could use it for salad, yes, and salad is a good thing. But wouldn’t this be better with a few brownies or cookies? It’s the perfect size for dessert.
You can see how similar Meadow Rose is to Fostoria’s sister pattern Navarre. Both have scrolls and curlicues and Fostoria etched both on the identical pieces. Navarre has an upside down bouquet where Meadow Rose has the open clear space.
