Last week I had a lot of fun with the tablescape that mixed clear and pink Miss America depression glass. This week takes that further into Pink Land with everything pink except the clear glass cup and relish.
Usually I like green better than pink but this pink is exquisite, just the softest candy pink and it sparkles so. I think Miss America in my favorite pink depression glass pattern. Of course, wait a week until I get another set out and my mind will change once more…
What makes Miss America so special is the combination of the sparkling rims with the smooth touch and the pretty shapes. That square footed sherbet is a nice accent to the round plates and bowls.
This next photo shows the design close up on the sherbet. See how the little diamond shapes make a zig zag line? Miss America is all about lines and shapes.
The silverware is Oneida silverplate we got with Betty Crocker points several years ago. I like the simple curvy flower design and how it blends with so many of my glass patterns to show you. The table cloth is from my Mom too; she embroidered several bridge cloths like this one. I would like to find another vintage table cloth to use sometimes but all I’ve found so far are square. When you see pictures of 1930s-50s era kitchens they usually had a square table in the kitchen.
The pieces we’re using are the lunch plates, cereal bowls and sherbets in pink with the clear cups. I’m using lunch plates because we only have one dinner plate left in stock and I like how the pieces look together.
Here’s one last photo showing the pattern close up. See how the star pressed into the sherbet foot echoes the star on the base of the plate and cereal bowl?
I hope you enjoyed seeing a peek at how people would have used their cherished Miss America dishes during the depression era!
