The answer? This Hazel Atlas pink depression glass sherbet, the Florentine #1 pattern. It certainly qualifies as pink and pretty, but if you want to use it with fruit instead of ice cream, then I won’t tell!
I love this pattern, both on the scalloped and frilly number 1 shape and the round number 2 shape. Take a look at the foot on this sherbet. See the small scallops around the rim? And the design that goes all the way to the center? You can look down from the top of the sherbet and see this amazing detail, from the center poppy on the foot to the poppies, scrolls and swags around the outside of the bowl.
Hazel Atlas made this in green, yellow and crystal in addition to the pink. I’ve seen more green than any other color of Florentine #1, although none of the colors are rare. This is a great pattern to consider collecting because there are enough pieces and colors to make the hunt fun with a bit of challenge, yet you won’t go broke nor despair of ever getting that last tumbler or saucer.
You can combine the Florentine #1 and #2 shapes too as the colors are identical. I find the tumblers, sherbets and accessory pieces are easier to mix than are plates or bowls. Try it and see what you like; there are no rules when it comes to enjoying depression glass!
