This week our Pink Saturday shows another less-well known pink depression glass pattern, Old Cafe from Hocking Glass. I really like this wide candy dish — it is perfect for after dinner mints.
Glass makers had fun with candy dishes and jars and they are fun to collect now. You can find flattish dishes like this one, tall footed jars with lids and everything in between.
Candy jars are great collectibles if you like vintage glass – or if you just like pretty things that aren’t too big. Most jars are small enough you can have several without using an entire shelf. Of course you can use them for you M&M stash too.
Old Cafe has a wide rib in between two narrower ribs; it has a lot of looks despite being so simple. This dish is one of my favorites because it is so graceful and I like the flared rim and little tab handles. The bottom is made of all the ribs brought together and rolled under, making a neat little foot.
Be sure to visit the other blogs participating in Pink Saturday. It’s fun to see what everyone has. As always, thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound who started this fun blogfest two years ago and organizes it so well for us.
Shopping Information: Pink candy dish is available in our online store Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass. It’s like antiquing with your best friend.
