Here is an unusual piece of elegant depression glass, the Fostoria Grape brocade etched round candle holder. This color is called Orchid. Is it pink? Is it lilac? I’m not sure and possibly Fostoria wasn’t either. Thus the name Orchid.
The Grape etch is a brocade etch, meaning the entire piece is etched. The design of grapes and leaves and twirling stems is smooth while the background is deeply recessed. That’s the opposite of most etches.
We had this same piece earlier in green. Which do you like better? Please leave a comment and let me know: Orchid or green.
As we close out 2010 thank you for taking the time so many Saturdays to read my posts and leave comments. May you have a blessed and peaceful 2011.
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event. Please be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how pink we can be.
