Royal Lace is one of those great depression glass patterns that has lots of pieces, comes in gorgeous colors and is so much fun to collect. It’s not ubiquitous – you won’t find pieces every time you go somewhere – but neither is it so scarce you have to mortgage your first born to get a tea set.
This candle holder is a good example of a fun piece that’s so pretty, so unique. Hazel Atlas made three Royal Lace candle holders, this one with a rolled rim, one very similar but with a ruffled rim, and another with a plain rim. Maybe the designers had a bet on which style would win hearts and pocketbooks!
Just so you know what to shop for, the plain one is called “straight edge” or “plain rim”. The fun thing is that Hazel Atlas made console bowls to match each style of candle holder. That would be a gorgeous set!
Elizabeth posted this picture on our Facebook page of the plain rim bowl. It’s so pretty but I do admire the rolled rim even more. The candle holder looks just like this (except smaller and with a candle cup of course).
Next post I’ll cover a little more about Royal Lace, including the pink creamer and sugar I passed up at the antique show last weekend.
