It must be Princess week. You read about our dinner table set for Princess on Thursday and now Princess for Pink Saturday. Let’s look at a piece that was not invited to the Thursday dinner, the tumbler.
Did you notice the base is squared off? That’s a different look. Plus this tumbler is flat. Hocking Glass made a full set of Princess drinking glasses – water glass, iced tea, juice. Some are flat. Some are footed. I love the look of the cone shaped footed tumblers – pure depression era styling. This flat shape is less prone to damage but it doesn’t have quite the same vintage feel.
Princess is mold etched, meaning the design is raised on the outside. That’s a convenient feature on these hot summer days. Even when your glass gets wet on the outside you will find it is easier to hold a glass with a textured design than one that is smooth. It’s a lot less slippery.
Slippery or not, this is a hard piece to photograph – you can probably tell that. The Princess tumbler is the same soft pretty pink as the other pieces. It’s a great choice when you want a bit of pink in your life!
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event. Please be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how pink we can be.
