Readers liked last week’s post about the Royal Lace candle holder (read it here) and that got me thinking. What other patterns did Hazel Atlas make candle holders? All I could think of was Florentine #2. I checked my trusty books in case I was mentally missing a pattern and nope, still no more candle holders. There isn’t even a candle holder in Florentine #1!
I’ve seen the candle holder only Hazel Atlas’s lovely pure yellow depression glass but they made it in green and crystal too. I don’t think they made it in pink.
You have to wonder why the dearth of candle holders from Hazel Atlas. Hocking made several patterns with candle holders and although some are rare, others, like the cute Queen Mary one, are common. Jeannette made candle holders in Floral, Adam and Iris, possibly more. I can’t think of any in Federal’s patterns either.
Hazel Atlas made gorgeous mold-etched patterns Royal Lace and Florentine Poppy that included candle holders that we are ever grateful to have. I can only wish they made candlesticks in all their patterns, especially the interesting geometric pressed patterns like Moderntone or Aurora.
