Both Central Glass and Tiffin / US Glass made an etched pattern called Thistle, and if there is any difference between the two, I sure can’t see it. The only way to tell what Thistle you have is by the stem shape.
Here is the Thistle sherbet we bought from an antique mall this summer.
This is the Tiffin Thistle sherbet (we’re doing tongue twisters today!).
You can see what I mean about the etches being identical. The stem shapes are similar too, but the Central bowl is more nipped in than the Tiffin.
Thistle etch is unmistakable. The pattern has realistic looking thistles and leaves that curve down. Replacements has a line drawing that is easier to see the design than looking at a photograph.
