It’s time for Tip of the Week! Let’s look at pitchers and where to check for cracks.
This pitcher is crackle elegant depression glass. It’s about 80 years old, so not surprising it has picked up some damage over the years. I’ve had several Manhattan and Waterford Waffle pitchers in that had the same little crack hiding in the same place.
Take a look. Do you see it?
If you didn’t see the crack, don’t feel bad. I did not see it either right away – and it is a big crack! Take another look.
For some reason tilt jug pitchers, like Manhattan and Waterford Waffle depression glass, tend to get these cracks by the handle. I’ve not seen cracks in those 1950s cute tilt ball juice jugs with the oranges or tomatoes on the side.
We had several pitchers like the Normandie amber one below that don’t have cracks. Take a look!
