I never know what to call these. Center handled servers? Center handle serving trays? Center handle sandwich trays? They go by many names but in the end, why worry. They are lovely pieces, perfect examples of elegant depression glass.
This is Frances from Central Glass and there’s a story with it. My friend Loren and I went to an antique show in Grand Rapids a few weeks ago and right in the first booth was this pink tray. All full of gunk and dirt and grime and nasty. But I could see it was Frances and I look for pieces from Central Glass.
So I took a chance. (Yes, I know, I’m the lady who tells you to avoid really yucky pieces since it’s so hard to tell dirt from wear.)
We got this home and washed it with soap and water and a light cloth. It got beautifully clean and sparkly. The yuck was all dirt, no wear. In fact this is a beautiful piece, in as close to mint condition as you’ll find. Talk about lucky! Yes, another thing to be thankful for, albeit nothing as important as family.
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event. Please be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how pink we can be.
